Yá'át'ééh — Welcome to Dinétah Trading
Shi éí Olivia Franklin yinishyé. Áshłįįhí nishłí, Tódích’íí’nii éí báshíshchíín, Bįįh bitoodníí éí dashicheii, Tábąąhá éí dashinálí.
(Hello, my name is Olivia Franklin. I am of the Salt People Clan, born for the Bitter Water Clan. My maternal grandfather is of the Deer Spring Clan, and my paternal grandfather is of the Edge Water Clan.)

I grew up selling jewelry beside my mom and grandma—first on the Navajo reservation and later in Washington State. We’d travel together to flea markets and roadside events, sharing not only our work but our stories. Every sale was more than a transaction—it was tradition, resilience, and connection.

Dinétah Trading didn’t begin with a logo or a website.
It began with my grandma’s old jewelry box and the trunk of my car.

In 2024, I was out of work. Christmas was near. I was used to contributing, to pulling my weight—and suddenly, I couldn’t. I remembered what my grandma would do: she’d load up, show up, and find a way. So I did the same. I drove to local tribal offices, heart pounding, and simply asked if anyone wanted to shop.

By the end of the day, I had made $500.
But what I really found… was my purpose.

Dinétah was born from survival.
But it’s grown from love.
From legacy.
And from a whole lot of “just figure it out.”

For us, this isn’t just business—it’s who we are.
My grandmother was a weaver. My nalí lady was a jewelry maker. My mother still creates to this day. This is generations of knowledge, passed not just through tools and technique, but through heart.

We’ve come a long way from that trunk, but I carry it with me in everything I do.
Ahéhee’—thank you for supporting Dinétah Trading. Your purchase helps us keep our culture alive, support our artisans, and honor the stories we come from. Feel free to reach out anytime—I’m always happy to connect.

The Heart Behind Dinétah

Dinétah Trading is rooted in family, tradition, and community. Every piece we share is a reflection of the people who make it possible—from my relatives who help with every detail, to the trusted Navajo wholesalers and artisans we partner with.

My late Nalí lady may no longer be with us, but we carry her wisdom in everything we do. My aunties continue to inspire with their creativity and support, and my dad keeps us grounded with his steady guidance and work ethic.

This isn’t just a business—it’s a collective effort to honor our heritage and keep our traditions alive, one handcrafted piece at a time.
